Gorgeous & stunningly detailed!!! Much respect to you, dear colleague & clearly fellow Tiger lover, for this outstandingly lovely rendition! I myself am working on a sweet Tiger homage collection comprised of 24 pieces, have two down already, & I hope to finish the rest soon enough. But any who, kindest regards & the best of creative times to ya.
awesome texture all over ,,,, soft nose, pointy whiskers, the fur is perfect ..... What is your technique ! Do you have a favorite book that might describe how you paint ? I am a self taught artists trying to achieve what you have here. Any advice would be greatly appreciated !
Hi, it is really just a case of studying the refrence picture carefully, I haven't read any books on painting, just read little tutorials and stuff online. I usually start by a blocking in the main tones and colour thats slightly darker than the final picture, this acts like the colour you see between the hairs. The fur is then built up in layers starting from dark to light and finishing with the highlights. Also with this one I have painted small dark lines before I started the fur to show as the dark bits between the hairs, you can see this in the fur between the eyes. It also helps as a reference to what way the hairs are growing when you are painting the fur. I have a few step by step photos that I will upload at some point soon.
